This came during with meeting with president of the Bahraini Mind Sports Federation Hassan Eid Bukhamas and general secretary Taha Hussein and director of the federation Shaker Al Afo, in the presence of the Sports Affairs acting executive director Hisham Al Baloshi, Sports Federations executive coordinator Hamad Al Baker and federations specialist Aqeel Ali.
Askar and the visiting delegation discussed the national team participation in the World Bridge Championship finals, which kicks off on Saturday with the participation of six players qualified to the tournament after coming second in the West Asian Group stages.
He praised the accomplishment achieved by the team as they became the first team from the GCC to reach the World Championship finals, and urged the players to put on the best in this global challenge.
Askar noted that this achievement underlines the great volume of work made by the federation under the presidency of parliament council member Hassan Bo Khamas in promoting and improving mind sport in general and the game of bridge in particular, I wish the team every success.
On his part, Bo Khamas expressed thanks and appreciation to the Bahrain Olympic Committee and its president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continued support to all the sports associations in Bahrain, which has contributed to the series of achievement at various levels.
Bo Khamas stressed his national team eagerness to achieve the best results and performances, especially due to the good preparations of the team athletes and their keenness to represent Bahrain the best way in their maiden appearance in this prestigious competition.
