?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) recently won the Arab Smart Government Award, presented by the Pan Arab Excellence Awards Academy, for its smart electronic transaction services offered to the public, at Bahrain’s first-ever National Sports Day in February this year.
The awards ceremony was staged in Cairo, in Egypt, under the patronage of Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform Dr Hala Al Saeed, who presented the Bahraini award to BOC Information Technology director Nawaf Abdulrahman.
This competition is organized based on the Arab achievements and the success of the governments to ease the life of the people, shorten the spaces and promote transparency by creating smart applications for the people.
The Arab governments and the winning official institutions were honoured. On the sidelines of the ceremony, several workshops were held in which the practices of the smart applications were presented and the winners explained the methods of their success to the participants.
“This award is one of many won by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in different areas, either sports, administrative or technical, and is a result of the continued support offered by His Majesty the King representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa,” said Abdulrahman.
“Our website was programmed and developed to become the main gateway for the Bahrain Sports Day for all members of society, where it provided an integrated package of electronic services of the event includes with easy registration steps for participations, volunteers, or organization, or unwilling institutions in support of the event”.
On his part, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar expressed pride for this honor, which was based on the tremendous efforts and success of the Bahrain Sports Day website.
