?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated AL Najma Club on winning the 20th Asian Handball Clubs League Championship on Thursday.
Al Najma made history after defeating Al Duhail of Qatar 21-16 in the final held in Hyderabad, India.
Al Najma became the first Bahraini team to win an Asian handball championship, thereby qualifying for the World Handball Clubs League Championship to be held in Doha next year.
Askar expressed pride for this first-of-its-kind achievement for a handball club from Bahrain, and noted the performance and hand work of the team throughout the championship.
He attributed this win to the continued support from Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the club.
Askar also congratulated the club board, headed by Isa Al Qattan, who provided all means of support to the team, which led to this honorable outcome.
