Bahrain’s bodybuilding ace Sami Al Haddad added another victory to his tally as he took the 2014 IFBB Bodypower gold medal in Birmingham, the UK.
Al Haddad overcame a fierce challenge form some of the world’s most prominent bodybuilders to win the men’s bodybuilding 212 Professional Division’s gold medal.
He completed the main show ahead of his main opponents Shaun Joseph Tavernier of Great Britain and American Mark Dugdale, who settled for second and third place awards, respectively.
Kuwaiti Khalid Almohsinawi was fourth, followed by fifth Marian Cambal of Slovakia, sixth Dobromir Delev of Bulgaria, seventh Raul Carrasco Jimenez of Spain, eighth Anthony Bailes, ninth James Llewelin, while Jerry Ossi rounded off the top 10.
Al Haddad’s victory came a few days after winning his first-ever IFBB pro show in Slovakia, where he topped the 212 Professional division against Almohsinawi, who bagged the silver medal.
He was followed by Canada’s Robert Belisle, Marian Cambal, Raul Carrasco Jimenez and Pierre Chamoun of Sweden who took places from third to sixth.
International Federation of Bodybuilders President Rafael Santonja, Bill and Wanda Tierney, Robin Chang from the Proleague and other IFBB officials, also attended the event.
Al Haddad’s victories were hailed by Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, who noted the outstanding performance of the Bahraini bodybuilder in both events.
Askar also congratulated President of the Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation and the Asian Federation for Bodybuilding and Fitness Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa and wished Al Haddad further success.
