?Bahrain joined other nations around the globe to celebrate the 2017 Olympic Day at Dohat Arad in Muharraq.
More than 300 men and women athletes flocked to the park to compete in a running race that involved different group ages, open for citizens and expats alike.
Mohammed Al Dossary raced to victory in the men’s senior race. He was followed by Abdulla Al A’ali and Nawaf Sulaiman in second and third places, respectively.
In the women’s section, Emily Briones took first place against runner up Eva Pino, with Monica Vanvuuren coming third.
In the open race, Yousif Sulaibekh clinched victory. Behind him was Mohammed Abdulla in second position, and Mohammed Al Tamimi was third.
Maune Gabana was victorious in the women’s open race, with Klara Marecholva second and Angela Aguilo third.
In the 5-19 years race, Mohammed Qassim clinched victory in the boys section from second-place Mohammed Khalid and third-positioned Mahdi Al Qassab.
Rena Mareschova raced to victory in the same age category girls race from second placer Bayan Abdulla and third-placer Rawan Abdulla.
Saqer Ali came on top in the 11-14 years category race against Faisal Al Thawadi and Mahran Qassim, who were respective second and third.
Among the girls, Amna Ali emerged winner against Nawaf Abdulla, who came in second place, while Marjan Qannati rounded off the podium.
This year’s event was organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in collaboration with Gulf University and the Bahrain Athletics Association’s Bahrain Roadrunners.
