?Twenty eight athletes from Bahrain will be looking to honor their nation in the upcoming edition of the Asian Games in South Korea.
The 17th Asian Games will be hosted in the city of Incheon from September 19 to October 4, where Bahrain athletes are scheduled to compete in a variety of athletic events and hope to improve on their performance from the 2010 edition Games in Guangzhou. Bahrain’s athletic team consists of 15 men’s and 13 women’s athletes.
Vice-president of the Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal said the association is looking to achieve an unprecedented historic achievement at the Asian Games that reflects the great support offered by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Bahrain Athletics Association president, during whom athletics saw in a quantum leap. 
Jalal stated that they have big hopes on a number of competitions at the games, including the 400m hurdles, 200m and 100m, in addition to shot put and discus throw. 
He noted that the team has prepared well for this major continental event, especially after undergoing a non-stop three-month training camps such as Morocco, Kenya, Ethopia, Bulgaria and Turkey. The athletes will gather later in Morocco before heading for Incheon on September 23. 
On his part, Askar praised the support offered by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, General Secretary of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Women’s athletes: Hajar Saad Alkhaldi (100m – 200m – 4x400m Relay), Oluwakemi Mujidat Adekoya (400m – 400m Hurdles – 4x400m Relay), Genzeb Shumi Regasa (800m – 4x400m Relay), Rajaa Lemmadi ( 800m – 4x400m Relay, Maryam Yusuf Jamal (1,500m – 5,000m), Mimi Belete Gebregeiorges (1,500m – 5,000m), Eunice Chumba (10,000m), Tejitu Daba Chalchissa (10.000m), Eunice Jepkirui Kirwa (Marathon), Lishan Dula Gemgchu (Marathon), Ruth Jebet (3000m Steeple – 4x400m Relay), Rosemary Mumo Katua (3000m Steeple), Noora Salem Jasim (Shot Put – Discus Throw).

Men’s athletes:
Abbas Abubakar Abbas (200m – 400m – 4x400m Relay), Ali Khamis Abbas Ali Khamis (400m – 400m Hurdles – 4x4000m Relay), Abraham Kipchirchir Rotich (800m – 4x400m Relay), Yusuf Saad Kamel (800m – 4x400m Relay), Rashid Abdulqader Ramzi (1,500m), Benson Kiplagat Seurei (1,500m), Albert Kibichi Rop (5,000m), Alemu Bekele Gebre (5,000m), Elhassan Elabassi (10,000m), Isaac Korir (10.000m), Tareq Mubarak Taher (3000m Steeple – 4x400m Relay), John Kibet Koech (3000m Steeple), Mohamed Yusuf Salman (Triple Jump), Shumi Dechasa Leche (Marathon), Mahboob Ali Hasan Mahboob (Marathon).
