The recently-concluded 2016 Olympic Day has received admiration and praise from top-ranked sports officials in Bahrain after the tremendous success of this year’s activities.
This year’s festivities, organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) from May 14 to 27 in cooperation with Bahrain’s four governorates, featured a packed programme open for all segments of the Bahrain society.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar was full of hail for the activities and the impressive response from different parts of the community turning up at the two-week festivities.
“We were very much amazed by the excellent good turnout at this year’s Olympic Day,” said Askar.
“I was personally thrilled to witness the smooth running of the events as we joined the youth in other parts of the world to observe the Olympic values of fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship”.
“It was an honor to have such positive cooperation from the government authorities and excited for the success of the activities we brought for the first time this year. Now we look forward to even improve this event next year,” added Askar.
Askar thanked His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for attending the final day activities at the Bahrain International Circuit.
He also thanked the sponsoring companies for backing the activities. The event was supported by Al Khalaf International, Gulf Air and La Shish Restaurant.
